November 8, 1999 A 450s, no filter exposure of spiral galaxy NGC 7678 | | December 8, 1999 A color composite of star HD209458. HD 209458 is a star very much like the Sun and 174 lightyears away. It was detected to have planets by shifts in its radial velocity and more recently the planet was detected as it passed between the star and us, dimming the star's light. The planet has about 40% the mass of Jupiter and orbits HD 209458 once every 3.5 days. | | May 25, 2000 A 60s image of the planet Pluto. | | May 25, 2000 A mosaic of the 300s (no filter) images of the Sombrero Galaxy (M104). This is a spiral galaxy in the Virgo Cluster, viewed edge on with a prominent dust lane. | |
